Things To Do Before I Die - One Down

As some of you already know, I closed on the wooded lot near Milford, DE. With that accomplished, I headed out to Indiana to work on plans for the actual house to be built on that property. Ed and Sandy are going to help me make sure I don't forget any important piece of the plans.

After having lived in the Delta for so many years, I marvel each time I get back through Pennsylvania. It is so beautiful and green and "sylvan" (had to say that). I'm so glad to have found a place in Delaware among trees. I really missed having all of that, even though I lived in an area in Memphis with many large trees. It's not the same. As I was malingering along on the back roads toward the Pennsylvania Turnpike today, I decided to do something I have wanted to do for years and never got around to it. So I stopped along the highway, got onto the Internet and mapped a route on my GPS to take me to Fallingwater. It was as spectacular as I thought it would be, though very minimalistic in furnishings. Its design is truly unique among homes. Built for the Kaufmanns of Pittsburgh department store fame, it fits like a glove into its surroundings. I recommend a visit to it and at least the short (1 hour) tour.
So now I have only about 50 more items to complete before I die. This one was worth the detour off of I-70.

The pix of Fallingwater are beautiful. It's on my bucket list too. A realtor show on tv said to think of the house you just sold, and use that as a basis for ideas in your new place, less space here, more there, etc. Things you wanted but didn't have, things you had but don't need. Good luck with the plans.

I am so excited about Fifi's new house to be that I could scream. AIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!
There. I did.

Cathy has a great idea to think about houses you've had and what was good and what was lacking in them.

Please make sure that you design a bedroom with lovely natural light and nice colors so as to accommodate a large, smelly, hairy, objectionable person. Thank you very much.

Whoa! How beautiful! I remember studying Frank Lloyd Wright and Fallingwater at some point in my life, but couldn't remember where it was. Good for you, Feef, to go off the beaten road a bit. I envy you. Looking forward to hearing about your new home! Cousin Cathy's advice about previous houses is great!

Hey Judy!
I misplaced the piece of paper that you gave me with your blog on it; finally broke down and asked Becky. Anyway, I'm glad I did, so that I can keep up with your antics. Regarding Fallingwater, we visited a couple of years back and in my will I requested that my ashes be spread there when I die. John thought I was nuts, but having been there, I'm sure you can relate. The pics are beautiful, looks the same as when I was there.
