No Rest For The Weary

This morning I decided to face my fears and paint the high spots of the west side of Ed and Sandy's pole barn/apartment. (Sandy did most of the rest of it.) It really isn't so bad, so long as you don't a) look down, b) reach out too far, or c) lean back. I wimped out at the very top. I decided not to tempt fate, and have the Contractor finish it. He seems to have no fear whatsoever of heights.

I'm enjoying the temporary digs here at Greeneview Springs. Last night I surprised the varmint who has been raiding the bird feeders with a double spot light. He (a raccoon) was gone in a flash. Now we know for sure what it was. My room is just inside from all of the bird feeders, so I always hear the tinkling of the small chimes when the raccoon comes up to feed.

Tomorrow will be more of the same. We'll most likely paint the north side of the barn. It has only a couple of windows and is 20'X40', but without the unreachable peak of the west side. The Contractor will be painting high spots, eaves, adding and painting trim, putting up gutters and taking care of the ongoing landscaping projects.

I am still awaiting the dates that Piano Man and Juanita will be arriving in Philly Town so we can book at Bookbinders. Come one you two. Don't drag your feet on this. It will be loads of fun!!!

Yeah, Piano Man and Nita could travel up here together. Would be great to see Nita again, and I can't wait to meet Piano Man!! You are much more adventurous than I, concerning the painting. Go on, Fifi, go on. I am proud!

I'm new to this blog, but, do you think that maybe this Piano Man person could be afraid of all of you Yankee women? Maybe he is used to those demure Southern belles. My advise is to tell him he is most welcome and that Northeastern women are very much fun.

Now, y'all. . .don't you start to gittin' me nervous about goin' up yonder, ya' heah! And y'all know how slow us southerners are. I'll have to get with Nita to see what her schedule looks like. Actually, the Duke is in Ireland as we speak and will soon be spending a few days in England with family. I'd kinda' like to be there. Anyway. . . Feef, you go girl! Sounds like to me you have plenty to do and lots of folks to do it with. I'm headin' out to the Bay Place on the 28th or 29th for about ten days. Can't wait! That party boat is a'callin'. When ya' comin'?

Sounds as like y'all are a comin' to yer senses there. Seein as I don't recall seein anything is this blog that says the Duke specifically invited you to go on this trip, but the Northeastern Fillys (Philly girls) did. Have a nice weekend up there at the Bay house and the party boat. Hey - I noticed that you Southern boys must not have liked my handicraft, as you like to fly some Rebel flag of yer own. Huh

Is this Bookbinders junket a "by-invitation-only" or can one's geographic proximity to said restaurant guarantee a place at the table?

Normally, I'd go for the half price oysters on the halfshell at Samson Street Oyster House during happy hour but for the Bookbinder's trip, I just wanna come for the company, not necessarily the seafood!!!

To Finfully,
Bookbinders is open to all interested blog readers, commentors and their friends. We are assuming that you would certainly want to be there. It's for the snapper soup, actually. Ha Ha

OK - Now it would be great fun to all get together and have some BB's snapper soup. We can do a 'progressive dinner' if we want. What is the most fun is knowing that everyone can make it. So, PM, don't be intimidated by Betsy Ross. After all, she's a has been. The only way Nita will go is if you go too. So it's up to you. Maybe you would like to do it around the Thanksgiving time frame. Who knows. I centainly plan to spend some quality time at the Bay place after the heat subsides. PM, you have created quite a following with the Yankee women. So make a date and let's all meet up in the City of Brotherly Love. Heck, next we'll all come down to the Bay place. How many can you accommodate? LOL

WOW! This BB thing seems to be escalating to monumental heights. Who'd a thot' it? Actually, J-nita and I went to Ivey House for dinner on Saturday and we talked about the Philly trip but made no definite plans. We'll have to do it at a time when the Duke will be available to take care of the animals, garden, house, etc. I will denfinitely talk with her again to see if we can formulate a plan. In the meantime, we are following Tropical Storm (maybe huricane) Fay as it seems to be wanting to give us a visit. Just one more exciting reason to reside in the Sunshine State. I can't wait to meet all these Yankee Dolls. I'm already conjuring up images in my mind. As far as accomodations at the Bay Place. . . If we sleep three to a bed then we can handle twelve with no problem.. .Of course, there's always sleeping bags. By the way, Fife. . . where are you?

I'm sure I will be at BBs, too and am looking forward to it. Maybe it will become an annual event!

I sure love the color of the pole barn - although the one thing I NEVER do is get on ladders. I am envious Fifi.

Oh, Piano Man--I love how you refer to us as Yankee DOLLS. What a sweet term! We will try not to disappoint! You must be a true Southern gentleman (albeit a transplant). :-) Looking forward to meeting you and seeing J-Nita again. This will be too much fun!

I think we're gonna need more than one S Cargo for the bay place come fall when the bayside weather is divine! I'm glad to hear that 'nita is engaging in serious discussion about a future philly trip....I've got her whole fan club up here asking when she's comin up next (right here on the east side of the river). Would be happy to offer accommodations for Piano Man too!!!

The thought of a trip to Philly is becoming more interesting every day. And to think, I even have accomodations there. How cool is that? Right now we are "overing" Fay who made a visit here over the past few days. No real damage. . .just lots of mess. When I get back from the Bay Place I'll have to concentrate on when I might be able to make the Philly trip. In the meantime, you guys enjoy the beautiful fall weather that has to be making its way up there. Actually, one can tell that fall is coming here, too, because the spell of sun tan lotion isn't quite as strong.

Oh, PM, my heart is all a-twitter, thinking that we may actually meet you! My sis, Kathy, and I will be a BB's whenever the time is decided. Nita, miss you too!!

Wow! My head is spinning just trying to keep up with Fife. She is like the guy who rode off in all nine directions. After being up at the bay place for a week or so it takes me two or three days to get over that. Of course, too many parties, too much to eat and WAY too much to drink could account for some of that. I did have a great time last week. David and I found a new place to karaoke. It's called "The Hideaway". . . newly remodeled and actually pretty nice. Not too many folks there so got to sing a lot. We're still talking about the Bookbinder thing. Jnita mentioned it to me the other day. I know she'll be ready to go almost any time. I've got some things going on right now so it will have to be a little while before I can really focus on a trip to Philly. In the meantime, you go girl. . . can't wait to see what your new place will look like. Do you think you might need help in installing the carpet in the bathroom?
